Queerness and Nature is a mutual creative space centering queerness and kinship with nature.

Our walks are intentionally intergenerational and sober (alcohol and drug-free) spaces. All ages are welcome. ASL interpretation will be provided.

Additionally, when registering, you may let us know if you have any accessibility needs or questions! (or directly email info@dreamsofhope.org)

Details for March 25th

Artist and Educator Ginger Brooks Takahashi will lead a walk to her new site-responsive piece “Drip, Seep, Run” in Schenley Park on Saturday March 25th, 2-4 pm. Please meet outside the Schenley Park Visitors Center at  3827, 101 Panther Hollow Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 at 2pm.

This walk will feature uneven ground and muddy trails on Lower Panther Hollow Trail to Hollow Run Trail, returning to the Visitors Center. Please wear supportive footwear and cover your legs/ankles from poison ivy and ticks. Bring water and a notebook for writing/drawing.

We have created a Tumblr where we post inspirational and information content as well as writing and sketches created at prior walks. Please feel free to submit content you created to info@dreamsofhope.org

This walk is part of the Parable Path!

The Parable Path is Toshi Reagon’s framework for community organizing through artistic engagement, connected to her musical adaptation of Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower. See the performances March 30 – April 2 at the Pittsburgh Playhouse. (Dreams of Hope will be going April 2nd!)

The Pittsburgh Parable Path is created in partnership with The Black Unicorn Library and Archive Project, City of Asylum, Dreams of Hope, Equity | Impact Center, Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books, Kelly Strayhorn Theater, and NEXT Pittsburgh. These organizations and events reflect the action and advocacy for change around sustainability, freedom, and belonging. Our Path is ever evolving.
