Kim El is an award-winning Pittsburgh-born playwright, actor, director and educator who uses words to stimulate human consciousness.
Kim earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Duquense University. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., The Dramatist Guild, UJAMAA Collective and Arts Rennaisance Collective (ARC). Her extensive theatre experience includes New Horizon Theater, Kuntu Repertory Theatre, Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre, No Name Players, The Shadow Lounge, Briocolage Production Company, 12 Peers Theater and The August Wilson Center for African American Culture.
Kim El has written 14 one-act and 6 full-length plays. Kim is the award recipient for Best Play (2011), Best Director (2008) and Best Supporting Actress (2006) for her work done at the Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre.
She says that her creative mission is to be among the list of playwrights who have made a difference in the world. One play at a time.
